Changed By Women

"Women belong in all places where decisions are being made... It shouldn't be that women are the exception."

Ruth Bader Ginsburg (former Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States).

There are no countries around the world that have closed the gender gap. According to the latest data from the World Economic Forum, it will still take more than 100 years before equality between men and women can be achieved worldwide, particularly regarding economic aspects and political representation.

Universities can help speed up this process, contributing to both designing effective measures and policies, and creating a supportive culture. In particular, universities such as Bocconi play a fundamental role in promoting inclusion and diversity, starting from the ability to select, integrate and develop students who are increasingly diverse in terms of gender, and geographical, economic, social and cultural background.

In the 2022/2023 academic year at Bocconi, 30.8% of students received support for their studies and €41.7 million were invested by the University and allocated for tuition waivers and scholarships of various kinds. In this commitment, the University is supported by its Donors: in the 2022-2023 academic year, over 500 students have started their academic careers at Bocconi thanks to some form of support. They include 120 students who are directly supported by Donors of the University.

Within this context, there is an increasingly greater focus on gender diversity. In fact, 136 students are recipients of scholarships or tuition waivers dedicated specifically to women.

In addition, Bocconi in 2024 has also decided to launch a new initiative in which it would like, in order to stimulate female empowerment and the new generations, to tell 99 stories of alumnae who have made a difference in their various fields. Stories that will be collected in a book 'Changed by women - 99 stories of women who have pursued their dreams and changed the future' and in a communication project to be launched on 8 March. Donations collected in association with the project will go into this fundraising campaign.

Together we can do even more, give now to support talented young women, so that they can express their full potential and embark on paths of growth and professional achievement.

Together, we can truly contribute to change and gender equality, story after story.
